Thumbs up

Keith, great entry! It's refreshing to see someone point out somethings the "man on the street" can do to solve some problems. Every little bit helps.

Thanks, Rellosk. We had planned all along on having suggestions, recommendations, etc. as one of the features of the Green Team blog, but Planner's suggestion (see start of this thread) on bringing it down to always discussing what the individual reader can do to help/contribute/participate really sharpened that focus!

See, we do listen to (sensible) suggestions!

And (almost) all publicity is good publicity.

Nothing like a little controversy to get people clicking!

Default natural parks

I was shocked last year when I learn that mr Hipolito Mejia, sold pieces of land in a natural park in the Ulvero Alto/Macao to some foreign hospitality investors.

I am an hotelier, but not at any price.

This kind of abuse has to be noticed and revealed and hopefully you can do your share of help on that matter with that blog.

Thanks anyways for reading me.

Thanks for reading our blog, Alain!

We hope that there are more hoteliers like you in the DR. We suspect that there are quite a few, and hope that this blog, among other influences, prompts them to become more vocal.

We will be covering how to preserve the protected areas while still keeping them open to tourism. It's being done successfully elsewhere in Latin America and the Caribbean, and we are certain it can be done in the DR too.

Best Regards,
Keith

Ok folks, the first of several entries by various Green Team members on the complex but interesting topic of certified organic agriculture and how it can transform the DR's rural and export economy while protecting the environment:

"Organics & The DR: Part I – The Way to Go?"

http://www.dr1.com/blogs/?u=environment

Best Regards,
Keith

Even though it's one of the few environmental issues that doesn't interest me, I still scanned the entry.

Who's the Brit (or possible Canadian?) in the group. The word 'schemes' for Americans has a negative connotation. I remember the first time I read an article about Pension Schemes in England, I thought they were referring to something illegal.

Hmm, I fear that the use of "scheme" came from me, an American, who does not usually think of it in those terms. Sorry.

Actually, organics was not one of my favorite issues either, but I had to join in on the effort --that goes with being part of a Team. But the more I study the issue, the more interested I get...

Keep tuned on organics, we may win you over yet. Parts II & III tomorrow. Then a very interesting Part IV.

And as part of the organics series, we'll have a very famous guest star (I mean truly realworld famous, not DR1 famous)...
