Noise Pollution

Today's news clip on the Dominican Fiesta - they say they are under the 60 decibel level which is the law. I looked that up - that is the level of "background music and soft dinner conversation".... I don't know about that hotel but I live near the Jaragua and the speakers that blast on the Malacon on Sundays are annoying at my place, three blocks away.

Really who is measuring this noise level?

I doubt those things are under 60 db. It's probably something like 110 db - or the strength of the sound an airplane makes when taking off.

I've noticed the politician spay people to ride around in pickups and play loud music and when they pass by my car always shakes and I can't even here myself speak! 60 db - uhhhh.....no.

Any way to get a hand held meter? Just curious -- geez this is a loud!!! country. I think they must all be a bit deaf from the level that they play the music..
