There are a couple of guys along the Malecon of Puerto Plata who collect bottles every evening and Saturday and Sunday all day long. They are quite possessive of "their" stretch of the strip and judging by their large bags full of bottles... they could make a couple of 100 Pesos.

It takes about a little less than USD 8.oo (less than DOP 300) per day to make the average USD 200.oo a month working 26 days a month.
