Great quote NALS

Now, we only have to decide who is right.

But even if we don't, this has been a great debate, because it has given all of us the chance to see other opinions and others to see ours.

It's a win win situation

rafael,

your assumption that the universe, nature, etc all balances itself out is true, unfortunately you neglect to recognise that our insignifigance in the cosmos means that our wellbeing is not a factor considered in the outcome.

In otherwords just cause the planet can metabolize all the crap we produce doesnt mean that we will survive the process. take a look at the last several million years of earth history and count the number of extinct species.

As intellegent beings with a sense of selfpreservation, we should be trying to
first: not damage our own environment.
second: to understand our enviorment.
third: take steps to keep it suitable.

now tell me which makes more sense? your approach or mine?

i stand corrected on the water vapor. "Water vapor is present in the atmosphere in concentrations of 3-4% whereas carbon dioxide is at 387 ppm or 0.0386%"

Raf, and Cobra
this has been an excellent debate, you both are well informed and i respect your conclusions. Your opinions, as do mine, come from the info we have availible to us, sometimes it conflicts or is poorly understood, and differing conclusions can be drawn.

cobra, i do resent being told my understandings of this or any topic are religious beliefs. I think i represented my side of this debate intellegently and with legitimate info, and opinions and theories held jointly by many many climatologists.

time will tell.

It's not my assumption; the universe does not give a crap about what we do.

Our insignifance in the cosmos is such, that our wellbeing is not a factor, at all, for the future of the universe.

Unless, of course, you think that human beings are more important, than dinosaurs, or rats, or tigers.

Species have been, are and will continue to disappear from this, and many other planets, where life does exist. It's a natural course of survival of the fittests. That's why the dinosaurs are extinct and rats are not. rats are much better equipped.

The human specie is one of the lastest, the most poorly equiped, the most ignorant and the most arrogant of all.
We are very much impressed by cellular phones, computers and electronic devices, because we are incapable of comprehend the natural hability of most of the species, going for millions of years, migrating thousands of miles, without a compass, or communicating with eachother with ultrasonic waves.
We can't even duplicate the hability of the bear to hybernate at will, and yet, we calle it instint.
The human child is powerless and defenceless for a good number of years of his/her life, and yet, what do we teach him?

However, if you are of the opinion that we, the human race, are special; then the argument ends here. I really have no patience for religion.

However, I agree with you, this has been a very good debate, and I, for one, apologize if I offended anyone.

I just like to tell it the way I see it

I'll jump in but I'm busy. Here is something though ... does not touch much on the timeless and ageless and human aspects, but does touch on realities now...

Will Steger does not know more about global warming than Rafael Rothschild.

He sounds a lot more romantic though
