Ya, that's not the only problem. The research on biodiesel from crops is getting pretty mature. It is indicating that biodiesel from crops has an even higher total carbine impact on the environment then diesel or gasoline. This is because of the carbon contribution from defoliation from growing and processing the crops into fuel. The impact on non-greenhouse environmental issues food production are also extreme.

I am burning biodiesel from waste vegetable oil. It is relatively clean (although it still has the NOx problem) and is extremely cheep. With this experience, and what I have learned, I am thinking that CNG may be a better approach. Although not technically renewable, it is an even cleaner burn the biodiesel, and is abundant engulf to carry us until the technology advances on pure renewable energy sources.

I've been very concerned over the years as most people of our environment and ways to participate in alleviating the stress we are causing her. And I was amazed at all the info out there on Biofuels and renewable energy alternatives with the use of crops from Jatropha, African Palm, soy, sugar cane ect. There has been ongoing research that gives us these environmental friendly alternatives. Aside from using land that would not interfere with food crops as these can be grown in poor soils, they would generate employment, giving farmers alternatives that would generate for them other means for land that would otherwise would not bring them much benefit and so forth it would generate employment, economically profitable and above all help our planet and our quality of life . However we have a very aggressive battle to confront in the political (Policies, laws and regulations), environmental (research and quality seedlings) and our social aspect (educating and creating environmentally conscious attitudes- starting with our children). Were is very good information out there- we just need to get involved with our local governments and farmers to address these possibilities that would be a benefit to our world and the quality of our lives. Just one of many links to visit: Home I'm very excited about these possibilities...

I would be highly suspect of information coming out of Texas in regards to biodiesel fuels. Texas produces quite a bit a oil and gas and I would think that the spin masters may be working overtime. I support any type of fuel alternative.

I agree, anything that would shake the oil economy and jeopardize billions of dollars of profit would seam a hazard to the environment (their pockets) specially coming from Texas!
