The reality of "global warming" is that if, and I do mean if, we are experiencing global warming, then it is a naturally occuring change that we know has happened before. Another thing is that no matter how much we do to halt or slow it down, our efforts will amount to nothing. It will only cost everyone more money and especially hurt the poorest of the world.
So why all the uproar and conferences and media stories? That's easy. Power and money. It allows governments to have more control, and raise revenues with curent taxes and new ones. There is a large and thriving industry based solely on the "global warming" histeria and a lot of people have a big stake in keeping the myth going.

Well, looks as some scientists are proposing a deep cooling period:
Canadian Solar Scientist Sees Solar Funk
I love this "settled science" stuff...

This is not a proposal, this is saying why they are doing solar measurement.
The report states that this type of solar measurement has been happening since the 2nd world war. The reason for the report is that the scientists are hoping to get funding for new telescopes. And yes, if the sun dims, we will be cold. No, the sun is not dimming yet. They just like to have these telescopes in case the sun dims. No worries Cobraboy.

The essence of te article is over the sun's role in te temperature of the earth.
Besides, what about

is unclear?
Parse words all you want, but fact is the entire "MMGW" bajahamama is NOT settled science as ~some~ would have us believe.

Cobraboy and I will fight these things forever - until he understands manmade global warming. LOL. On many other issues, we actually agree, so, there is no animosity. Besides, Cobraboy may be paying attention, but I don't pay much heed to an article from a few scientists trying to make money for a new solar telescope and saying they've measured a little blip over the past year and they really have to follow this through.
(and for those that still don't get it .. there is a little friendly chain-yanking going on here)

looks to me more and "scientists" are abandoning the MMGW theory, and looking toward another serious cooling period. Perhaps another cottage industry in the grant biz can be created for cooling now...

I think you are looking at the fuss being kicked up in the US at the moment about this thing, for all kinds of purposes, mostly nefarious. I don't trust it one minute. There is a big fight being fought in the media in the US and some is spilling over to Canada. With the slow movement to the North American Safety and Security alliance (or something like that - the Canada, US, Mexico trading block thing now on the table), these countries will all sing out of the same hymn book. This is not happening in the rest of the world. But, it is up to you to research. Just don't fall for the media circus in the US on this topic currently. Have a look at a few other countries. I again use the BBC as they use a language that we have in common .. BBC - Science & Nature - Climate Change
I was in a changing room trying on some clothes recently (in the US) and happened to strike up a conversation with a woman from the Phillipines. She is a journalist. We hit it off and went for a coffee together. We chatted about our respective countries and surprisingly used the very same term in describing our countries of origin. The term is: "The weather has changed so much over the past few years."
So, time to look past the politics and past the philosophies and past the media hype and past all of the 'noise' and past Al Gore and past green parties .. and see what the weather is doing across the world. There are changes of course. Even your initial example many moons ago of the snowline into Florida is a change.
I'm out of this thread now. Don't have much time the next few weeks on account of some of us work for a living. Hope your move down to the DR goes with the minimum of surprises. lol.
