What an ugly cuss!
Are you sure the Dominicans are calling the animal cotoron??? Because that's also the name of a herbicide.

Reason: correction: changed pesticide to herbicide

I wouldn't call these particular Dominicans entomologists but they said "cotoron". Could be the object they use the pesticide on. I have an even uglier cuss buried in my albums somewhere from 5 years ago. I'll dig it out. Thanks again for the help with the pics.

I dont know for sure but it might be a coconut beetle larvae- its unlikely that its a moth, i think it would be more caterpillar-like- have you got anything prettier to show us ? not keen on ugly-bugs

Looks like a grub. Similiar grubs are found on our farm in the soil.

Finally was able to get a shot of this traveler making it's rounds early this morning. Hard to get near them, they are camera shy
This particular butterfly is black with yellow stripes, not orange. Anyone know if it is a Isabella heliconian?
