Rulos are just a kind of banana (from the musa family) like manzano or plantain.

We eat them cooked (I have never seen them eaten raw)

Maybe you should try one? As long as they are edible you could give us first hand information on what they are like.

"Guineos" and "platanos" are from the same plant "musa". They are all just different varieties.
"Plantains" are not a different plant it's just the way we differentiate between "sweet" and "non-sweet" bananas.
There are hundreds of kinds of musa plants. Rulos are short and fat with a hard thick skin. As for eating them raw, I have never seen it.

Try one!

Talking Oh John...where are you

Just wondering if he ate one of his "banana like" things and is now "sleeping beauty"

I have heard that some types of "banana's" can make you very tired, whilst others give you energy,( like a natural Red Bull, I hate RB and that stuff).

Any truth to this?

Those are rulos, and should be cooked. But if anyone wants to eat them raw, wait until they are very, very ripe.

I love rulos; they are softer than platains.
