Default Embarassing mess in Cabarete

Every day I walk past the old abandoned Azzurro (Sp?) Resort located between Supermercado Cabarete and Villa Taina here in Cabarete. Over the last 2 weeks the garbage building up on the walkway in front of Azzurro has reached epic proportions. It is not just the usual white plastic containers, empty glass and plastic bottles, paper and plastic cups, plastic shopping and garbage bags, cardboard boxes, but there is a lot of wet garbage in broken bags as well.

To put it mildly, it is disgusting and I am sure that soon all those creatures and bugs attracted to garbage will start showing up.

Every day hundreds of tourists walk back and forth coming from Ocean One, Ocean Dream, Royal Residence, Tangarine etc and go right through what is quickly becoming a garbage dump in front of Azzurro. They are coming into the center of Cabarete and seeing this mess will sure turn them off and it gives Cabarete a black eye and is embarassing to this Cabarete resident.

If the owner of Azzurro is a member of DR1 and reads this post, please clean up your garbage. If anyone reading this post knows the owner please suggest to him that it would be a neighbourly thing for him to do to clean up the mess.

Wasn't Azzurro part of Starz resorts, owner of Sosua Bay Resort?
I believe the assets were split up between the partners.

hey buddy,
i am on the far east like known i guess,
so i can not take 'a look'.
but you live there.
you even walk there every day.
i guess iam right to assume it's YOUR 'Hood, right???
it is absolutely right to post it here,
to gain more supporters against that shi$$,
but i wanna know:
what you and the rest of the 'hood have done AGAINST that trash???
walk the mayors office,
present them some nice written letters,
or go on walking.
take me as an offender and offend the dirtbags out of anger.
Mike

I suggest that you go to or send a signed petition to ( ayuntamento, Sindico, and Gobernador ) Take a picture of it or video and send to TV / radio station.

Local businesses I'm sure would sign a petition right away.

a good trick is to go to an opposition party sponsored radio show or station, then they start grilling whoever is in charge.

In reality "El Ayuntamento" is responsible for cleaning up garbage etc. If you talk to the sindico personally I think he can persuade them to do their job.

After they clean up, post some signs ( NO TIRA BASURA AQUI ).

Ian Schembri-Sant who had been awarded the 'lifetime' garbage collection contract is/was a principle in Azurro. I have no idea if this plays any part in the situation. Perhaps best to just sit back and let it go it's own Cabarete way.

I did not suggest asking the property owners to be responsible for cleaning up the mess on their property.

My suggestion is to have the Mayor ( sindico ) have that mess cleaned up. by having the local "Ayuntamento" go in there and do their job.

IF that doesnt work. you can bring it to the attention of the media ( very effective ) also, something I forgot to add,

You can also contact El secretario de Turismo, send them a picture and petition and you can bet something will get done.
