Default Solar Energy Plant--any news or updates?

Good day brothers and sisters, I read on DR1 a while back about the new solar energy plant that was in the works with the US company Sunovia. Since the contract was signed back in the early part of this year, has any new developments taken place? When is this project supposed to begin? Thanks for any information you can provide.

please awake from your dream, nothing in benefit for the citizens of the DR is going to move forward, unless the pockets of the politicians are full

jorge, that is very true in the majority of everything. The U.S. is fighting to reform health care, and believe you me--the politicians are being paid plenty a-hand-over-fist. Nevertheless, solar energy is win-win. If some folks get rich, so be it. Constant, uninterupted energy is welcomed by all, even those politicians who get their wallets padded. That's just how the world works. Don't be discouraged, get educated and have a plan for yourself. Honestly, in just about every job there is, at least in the U.S., you have to know somebody, whether it be Walmart or the local convienience store, so become educated and sell yourself.

Sorry! Been too lax with old threads...

About the Solar project:

The solar panels are just starting to be manufactured in the DR, as preconditioned per contract. It took longer than planned to bring about enough expertise within the local labor pool, in order to accomplish the basics and quality controls for the panel making part.

The site already is primed for the center tower and the surrounding area for the reflectors as well. The step up transformers are NOT in the country, nor are they envisioned to be in the next near months. The financial crisis in the US affected the primary loans to that end.

A secondary switch relay is already being tested, for the link to the grid. The switch is remotely operated via computer and embedded software in it.

All government backed loans from external sources have been frozen...

It has been discussed that a return to normal working condition for the project, will be attainable within the next 4 months to that end.

Pichardo, great info thank you. I did some checking and didn't come up with much. How did you get detailed info (If you don't mind...)?

Thanks!

I have family linked to many of those projects in the DR, at the professional level...

Absolutely-most excellent news brother! Times are tough right now, but it is pleasing to know that this project has begun moving. There's always going to be rough patches in the road, but once this financial mess heals up, things should begin to return to what I term a "new normal." Meaning--no more irrational exuberance (bubble busting economies), rather a sustained and continuing growth, albeit a tad bit slower because governments around the world aren't going to allow the ole' wink and turn a blind eye to "fuzzy math." Therefore, financial institutions are going to be a little stingy for a while but should begin to rachet up the lending and credit soon. Banks like making more of what they already have, $$$$$. Please keep the information coming as you come across it, thanks.

Any word on whether the financing has been unfrozen on this solar project? And is there any more work going on?
