Where to buy a good Outdoor Knife?
Since these are restricted and therefore I can't buy one from amazon, my question is:
In SDQ / Higuey / PC / La Romana
Is there a store where one can purchase Gerber or Smith and Wesson knifes?

What do you mean "restricted"? Amazon won't sell them to you or customs won't let you bring them into the country?

Customs (according to Transexpress / Vimenca customer service)
"Las mercancías que son consideradas "armas" o "partes de armas" son inicialmente retenidas por Aduanas Norteamericanas donde permanecen por un periodo de 2 a 3 semanas procesándose, si el articulo es aprobado para su envío al momento de arribar a República Dominicana es retenido por la DGA y por el J2 donde en la mayoría de los casos es decomisado."

If you want those specific brands I'd be looking in scuba shops. Even if you can't get the specific knife then and there then they might beable to order what you want if they have a supplier for that brand.

OK, now I need to know where are these shops located if any in PC or Higuey?
Doesn't have to be these brands but I want quality...

In Santo Domingo, at Americana de Departamentos
In Santiago, look in Bellon
I would buy it in Walmart or Home Depot or Lowe's and put it in your luggage (not carry-on!!! LOL)
If you can send me a picture, Perhaps I can have one brought in in one of my boxes..Nevermind. I went to Cabela's: Cabela's Official Website - Quality Hunting, Fishing, Camping and Outdoor Gear at competitive prices. and saw them. I have seen them in different places...Yes, the way to do it is to put them in your luggage or bring one in a box. Of course a sharp
"colín" is just as useful...and Bellon sells "Arkansas Toothpicks" as well, called "lengua mimes" (because you do not feel the bite!)

Much over kill for the DR, but they are nice knives. I have the Swiss Army version of the S&W...a lot more expensive. I brought it in my luggage.
Think about a good "Colín" (a Collins machete) and a sharpening stone...will do anything that the Grylls knife will do and more...and is considered legal all over the DR..
