Thumbs up America was robbed

The winter olympics in Utah America were the "Best Ever". You are at war. Many are scarred. I come from an olympic city "Calgary" and you deserve better than dumb ass politics.

Superb just isn't good enough.

Smile My posting makes MOST sense.

The phrase the "best Ever" is something olympic officials confered upon most olympic cities. They didn't deserve it in Atlanta but they did deserve TODAY!!!.

Wink Robbed?

Rogge made a press statement before that he will not be backed into a corner with the words "best ever" like Samaranch was. He made the fatal mistake to say "best ever" at every games that took place under his tenure (dictatorship) as president of the IOC.
Rogge is smarter than that, no doubt they were superb. It is time for a change and Rogge will bring that change into reality.

America should also be ashamed of their NBC coverage, billed as twice as much "live", their commentators went to school to learn to talk in the present context when events had been finished for 4 to 6 hours and previously aired on CBC. Americans who live in the Canadian border states know what happened as many watched the CBC "LIVE" coverage. That was about the only thing the Americans were robbed of was LIVE coverage.

Salt Lake and Utah did a "mavulous job, simply mavulous" to quote Billy Crystal.

Arrow Hylwud I can agree with on most things BUT

The phrase the "best ever" is like passing the torch. If someone didn't deserve it "Don't say it". The americans deserved it. So "Say It".

It is about RESPECT.

The Americans deserve some.

Maxx

P.S. The olympics is about tradition. This tradition should live on.

Thumbs down

The Olympics loss what little magic it held for me when NBC took over coverage. They concentrated on only the "Politically Correct" events and events that would bring in Female Viewership. The only true Sporting events in the Winter games are the Men's Downhill and the Biathalon.
The Women's downhill recieved more TV time then the men's. NBC apparently has made a commitment to pushing Women's sports due to being forced by the NBA into covering the ridiculous WNBA.
The Biathalon only had token coverage and they limited exposure of the shooting part. I guess they don't want to be know for promoting something as politically incorrect as firearms sports.
The Summer games were the same way. Target shooting and the Skeet and Trap events are ignored. But we get all the Rythmic Gymnastics and sycronized swimming we can endure.
Thank God for ESPN2 and Speedvision!

Jeezus, Tony, are we soul mates!! I totally agree that I could have used a lot more of the Biathlon.. What a gut tearing event that must be. I can't imagine skiing that distance and then trying to hit a target....puff, puff, pufff....whew!

As for the summer games, you are sooo right. No Judo, no shooting events, little wrestling( a WWF imposed blackout of 'real' wrestling??LOL))....
While I can marvel at rythmic gymnastics and water ballet, only for a few minutes!!

However, back to MAXX' comment. They were wonderful games, no matter how much NBC tried to mess them up..
the athletes were wonderful, for the most part, and the fans were terrific.

BTW, NBC announced this morning that the secutty bill was over $550,000,000.

Thumbs down NBC

The worst coverage of a world sporting event I have ever seen. Speed skating - if you're going to cover the 500m final, COVER it. Don't show me Oh-No's qualifying heat then switch to some bizarre commentary on who made the US teams beret's, then back to the event for the final to see Oh-no again.

Thank God for the Eurosport channel so I could actually watch some of the events that other countries excelled in.

TonyCTV. Get your own network and let me know what channel it's on... I'll be tuning in in 2004, 2006....

Good job on the games, they went great on all accounts. A big boo-hiss to the NBC coverage.
