vast collection of pesos is really worth when calculated in terms of the American dollar or for that matter the Italian Lira, ok sorry the Lira part was a cheap shoot lets say the Russian ruble

My friend Isaac:

What is your problem? Why dont you use your time to learn about our country, which is in your dreams every night. Instead of worrying about what the peso is worth here, you should worry about what is the dollar worth to you in the crime capital of the USA. What good is your "suspected" suburban high class home in D.C. when all you dream about is DR? Why do you stay tune to this tiny little 48,000sq. kil. republic?

Hey, dont worry about me. My hope is that the dollar would go not just to $18 to $1. I hope it goes to $50 to $1. Those like me who have most of their holdings in properties are praying for money devaluation. Our properties are worth more. But what is even more important, is that the US$1000 I get every month from my private plan from Irving, Texas which covers me for life just keeps getting bigger and bigger here.

And here is the thing that will kill you with envy. I got a copy of the last U.S. Social Security statement I requested in 1990. Here are some excerpts from it:

Your Social Security Credits: To qualify for benefits, you need credit for a certain amount of work covered by Social Security. The number of credits you need will vary with the type of benefit.Under current law, you do not need more than 40 credits to be fully insured for any benefit. Our review of your earnings, including any 1989 and 1990 earnings you told us about, show that you have "at least 40 Social Security credits."

Now under the section "Estimated Benefits" here is what it says:

"If you retire at age 62, your monthly benefit in todays dollars would be about.......................................$1295"

"The earliest age at which you can receive an unreduced retirement benefit is 66 years of age. We call this your your full retirement age. If you wait until that age to receive benefits, your monthly benefit in todays dollars will be about..$1560

If I wait until 70 yrs. it will be $2095.

Now, get this. This statement was made with 1990 income, which shows in the report to be $51,300. It does not have income from 1990 to 1993 which was almost triple that amount.

Now pal, should a guy like me be worried with a future in dollars and pesos? Let me tell you, that $1295 is not too far off. Yet you look at me and I dont even look or feel 40 yrs of age. While my private plan is already sending the greenbacks, I can just sit and wait patiently for this little bag, which in Dominican pesos, exceeds what a top executive in DR gets for a full salary working full time and busting his ass, while I just sit over here watching the skies full of stars.

Worry about yourself. This Charlie boy is well taken care of by George Bush and Bill Clinton, in spite of the fact that I can take good care of myself without them. Let me know if you want a copy.

All you have written astonishes me. By what you wrote a few days back to my forum introduction, I thought you a kinder person. Is it that you really dislike Isaac or are you really that arrogant?

Money in deed is very important if use it wisely. If you are using it wisely, therefore you should be very secure of yourself and very proud of all you have acomplished at sush an early age. If you are secure of yourself, it is not necessary to tell others who you are by what you have got.

To answer your question I am so taken by the DR for a number of reasons most of which have to do
with the fact that I feel just as Christopher
Colubus did when he made mention that it was the most
beautiful place he had seen. I have circled the
world over and I have never seen mountains that are so beautiful as they reach into the afternoon
sky chasing the white clouds that hover above.

The people for ones that generally have nothing more save for a friendly disposition are amongst
the nicest I have ever met with the exception
being the Inupit Natives of the Northern Slope
of Alaska.

The food makes one truly feel alive, you know during my last visit to Santiago I was dating this
woman who had a sister that was getting married I was invited despite the fact that the only person there that I knew was the girl, the entire family was ever so kind toward me and I truly feel that it was genuine.Just because we are more fortunate
than some of our contemporaries does not mean that
it is our duty to look down upon them. Golo go a
little easier on the poor and the so-called chopo/as.

Yes, I'm sure you will live worry free.

Thats what you should do. Stick to poetry and love for DR and dont be so concerned about me. People are beginning to think you have nothing better to do than admire me. And Dominicans are very malicious. The ones in the forum may think you may have a suspicious affection for me, and doubt your manhood and love and search for a Dominican lady.

Remember, you started searching for women and now you are chasing me.Hahahaha!

Yes the mountains in the Dominican are truly beautiful, but do not even compare with the views and majesty of the mountains and views of Lake Louise and Banff, even Golo will agree with me.

What did he know back in 1492, Mr COLUMBUS never travelled anywhere else, he could have beached the Nina, Pinta and the Santa Maria on some desolate sand key and made the statement "This is the most beautiful place I have ever seen" and some would believe it to be a trueism.
Here is the most beautiful site I have ever seen bar none.

Yes Alberta is a beautiful province....but just to see it. Who the hell wants to live there? Even in summertime you can freeze your ass in those mountains. If you claim is great for skiing, I would rather go to Vail, where at least there is some real action at night.

Now the beauty of our mountains is you can have them year round, within an hour drive from Santo Domingo. Bonao is only 45 minutes away. Jarabacoa is an hour and a half. Constanza two hours. You can see our mountains routinely just driving to Santiago or Puerto Plata. I can see beautiful mountain views from my buildings roof in Santo Domingo.

But in addition we got the beaches. What are you going to do? Take a dip on the Great Lakes? Or Lake Alberta? Hey, I am not ready to join the Polar Club just yet.

Golo, I consider you my friend and therefore I want to make you aware
of one possible flaw in your Social Security calculations:

It says:You have earned enough credits to qualfy for benefits.
AT YOUR CURRENT EARNINGS RATE if you you stop working
at age 65 and 2 month your payment would be
about $1,711 a month .....

So if you haven't worked for the last 9 years I would assume you would
not get the full amount!!?? You better call your SS agent and find out.

But anyway I dont really think you are counting on those peanuts anyway
and you were just pulling our legs again. So keep it up and may the Peso
hit 50:1 soon. I definitely would make out.

I think that in the past I have seen a picture of
one of the resorts castle like and perched high
atop a mountain are we talking about the same Banff?

As for Christopher Columbus he was most likely high a good bit of the voyage and the only good
thing he did was to discover the DR if he really
did that.

If you are in your 30’s or 40’s, I wouldn’t even think about Social Security. By the time you are 67 (please note that they keep on raising the age range every few years) there will be no Social Security benefits because all of the baby boomers are sucking it all up at the moment. The only money you can count on is your 41K or any other private plan.
I must admit, that Golo is in the right track by buying property and living off of it because it is one of the safest ways to retire earlier and enjoy life. But I must advise, to be careful. Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you. I knew a lady who had it made in DR, with absolutely everything to live well in DR for the rest of her life. Unfortunately, she developed a sore in her tongue of which she never checked until it was too late. It was cancer, and believe me, not only did she die, but the treatment used up all she had.
