It is not on my map, so I imagine that it is not too far. You will probably go by minibus-a 9 passanger vehicle of Japanese or Korean origin that usually fits 19 or 20 Dominican folks.

Stop sweating this trip...You'll be fine..

I think you must be talking about Nagua, as well. Nagua is on the way to Semana, while Higuey is farther east, closer to La Romana. Check out map of the East part of DR:

If it's near Haiti, it's a long trip from Higuey.
Check out this map, if Neiba is the right place:

http://republicadominicana.inter.net...apas/dom_b.htm

I would say the trip would take about 5 hours, you would have to go through Santo Domingo. Check out this distance calculator:

http://www.intercaribe.com/rd/medirdistancia.asp

It says the total distance is 370 kms...don't know if that's as the crow flies, or actually travelling the roads of the DR.

Good luck.

Neyba!! Man oh man was i way off the mark!!...

It is on the other side of the country and one full day's ride.
If you go by car, you go into Santo Domingo, then thru San Cristobal, Baní, Azua, turn off to Vicente Noble, thru Tamayo and then right on the highway to Neiba...Neiba is famous for producing excellent students...don't know why. Especially for the Instituto Superior de Agricultura (our Texas A&M). Dr. Pérez Cuevas, the national Controller and Director of the Budget is from there. Neiba is the gateway to Lago Enriquillo the below-sealevel lake that is one of the oddities of the DR...
