It was pretty quiet, but if everyone just pops in for 30 seconds and then leaves cause no one else is there, you will never get a conversation going....
the chat room is pretty much empty during the day, a lot of people at work and doing other stuff. Try to go late at night, there's usually a crowd starting at 10 -10:30pm...umm NY time.
