Default A political merger?

In the wake of Balaguer's death, does the possibility exist that the PLD and the PRSC could eventually merge to form a real rival to the PRD?

Default Anyone who wants to "Second Guess" the politics of the DR,.....

....is on a "Fools Errand"!What seems to be a "natural" alliance between the "PLD",and the "PRSC" may not materialize! Just the other day the "PRSC" voted in favor of eliminating term limits for the President! To many it would seem to be in their (PRSC's) favor to keep the "status quo" inorder to eliminate the possibility of second term for "Hipolito".Go figure!Personal "hatred",contempt, and old fashioned "Pay Back" among politicians may be a stonger "force" than what is best for the Party as a whole! In the US we say that all Politics is "Local",in the DR,we know that, all Politics is "Personal"!"Stay Tuned" it will at the least be very interesting, and at the most very"Sangriento"!!CRISCO

Default Either that or...

We will have to put up with the PRD for the next 12 years!, Until all the loans come due. then they will dig up Balaguer, clone him, elect him by a landslide, bring in the FMI, and we start all over again.

Seriously, it seems that a political alliance is the "logical" thing to do but when is Dominican politics "Logical?"

Just venting...

The PRSC first has to decide if it is one party or two.

Default King Maker

The PRSC, without a true presidential candidate, will continue to have more to gain as a "king maker". They can obtain favors and important seats in deal making with both the PRD and the PLD. The Reformista's power would be reduced if they joined with the PLD permanently.

I agree that the PRSC may splinter.

I will consult with Balaguer at his gravesite to learn more.
