Default WOW!!!! I am so happy............

......after reading all these messages I realize how lucky I am to be employing what appears to be the only 53 Dominicans in the country that really do know how to work.......

Sorry that we had to take them all so the rest of you would suffer......

Condolences, Dave

Default I agree,It did "STINK"!

You are just another Dominican who "Won't",or "Can't" accept any criticism of anything "Dominican"!

You must first realize that there is a problem, before you can address the problem! "Presidente and Dominos anyone?and turn up that "Bachata"

I think your,"White Boy Please" speaks volumes about your "Issues"!

Now,as for "Colmadoazul's list of 15 reasons to live in the DR,The "Weather" is good! The rest is just "Bull****" no matter where you copied it from! I am still laughing! "Political Stability? And how about a "Peso" that can't find a "Floor",or a "Ceiling"?
It is a great place to raise a family if you can afford to send your kids to an English Language Private School at 10 thousand pesos per month and up! And fly to Miami for medical treatment if you or your child gets sick!

See my post in "Mars/Venus" re:Is Sex the Only Reason To live In The DR?"

Because there sure is little else that you can't find "Better",and/or"Cheaper" somewhere else!

Calomardoazul,
I can agree with some of your list but many are just way off base.

5) Abundant non-skilled work force of earnest and fast-learning young people.

Earnest? Have you been reading this thread? That is the main complaint.

6) Abundant qualified managerial staff available.

What is your definition of "qualified"? Is it just a diploma?

7) It has the largest tourism industry in the Caribbean which is a large export market within the country.

I have said it before and I will say it again. Tourism is a lousy industry to base ones economy.

11) Positive attitude towards foreigners and foreign investors.

The present Gov. is going out of their way to drive away foreign investment..Especially that 5% export tax that Hippo slapped on.

12) Fastest growing economy in Latin America for the past five years.

Not anymore

13) Political stability.

Are you serious?

14) Low crime rate.

I wish i could see the numbers as it relates to corporate crime and emplyee theft.

15) DR is a true melting pot with little racial tensions.

That has been debated many times on this message board. I have to disagree with you on this one as well.

Cool Hey I need some respect

Smile well you are the boss

CC you are the boss here, if you want to delete me, simply do it.
Have you read my last two post about the situation of our country?, I´m not blind nor dumb. I´m simply saying that is possible to do bussiness here in spite of the worsening economic situation if I get deleted Is been a pleasure meeting all of you...otherwise this is my country and I have the rigth to stand for it with all the respect for other posters.

Calamar [I hope you don't mind me shortening it to "squid"], it does seem.... as if there is more than a bit of Dominican bashing that goes on [not necessarily in this thread].

I have trouble sometimes figuring out if someone's being witty, or frustrated with a particular personal problem/issue, playing devil's advocate [you know who you are so don't deny it], or truly unhappy in the DR.

Having said that, the Forums are a fantastic place to get diversity of opinions and terrific knowledge from those who know....even though I have to often laugh at how serious some people become over relatively small issues -- YOU think Presidente beer is BETTER than Blatz, you moron?

Bravo everyone! Best, P

No, no, no, no..... I wasn't calling you that at all!! It's my fault for being too oblique. What I wanted to say by way of a poor example was that sometimes people get all excited over little things like what is the best beer.

Sincere apologies to you for not being clearer [or trying to be too cute].

Best, P
