Just like I said before...there is a hidden agenda here...and even some Dominicans are seeing it
Yeah right…and the CIA had something to do with Tu Pacs Murder. Listen MusicQueen, sorry for responding so late to this post but I’m relatively new around here. You seem to be a big defender of Tego just because other hypocrites exist –it REALLY should not be about that at all, it should be about whether Tego is right or wrong! Most Dominicans –including politicians-- do not endorse the drug trade on the island…they are just rather powerless to change their circumstances –much like we are here in the States. We’ve had a “Drug War” here forever but it has not dented the trade itself – that doesn’t mean that our leaders want our children to become drug addicts, does it? It just means that our leaders can only do so much to stem the flow –much like Dominicans leaders. You should not imply that there are ulterior motifs here just because they ragged on Tego. Tego either endorses the glamorization of drug use or he doesn’t –‘nuff said! Your going off on tangents for all the wrong reasons sweettie.

Quote:
Tego should never apologize to the hypocrites!
Why not, because he’s a bigger hypocrite then they are? Your reasoning doesn’t make sense Queen. He’s either wrong or he isn’t! Tego either endorsed this lifestyle --because he supports it-- or he doesn’t? Why are you having such a hard time absorbing this? Sorry Queen, but your links really don’t prove anything other then that Dominican officials and artist are doing some damage control so no further bad blood takes place between the two islands. In any case I think you missed the point of all the furor –the condoning of drug use! For example, your Milly Quesada link stated that “…Esto que ha ocurrido con Tego Calderón me ha causado consternación porque la relación entre nosotros, los artistas dominicanos y los puertorriqueños, es muy linda, generalmente tenemos una química muy linda"

Well, Milly is right, we do have una “quimica muy linda” but we both also have an ugly relationship that Milly has conveniently left out of her comment –that is, the Drug trade between our two countries.
You see Queen, I’m sure Milly and Tego are both aware that the Caribbean drug traffic to America comes from D.R. and P.R.? I’m also sure that both of them are aware that many Puerto Ricans on the island blame Dominicans for the drugs and the social ills in our country? I’m also sure that Milly and Tego are aware that the narco-pandillas in Puerto Rico (mostly youngsters) par take in a violence trend that results in a homicide rate that is 3 TIMES HIGHER then that of the U.S.? See my point Queen? Why are ANY artists glamorizing the use of drugs at all? They are aware that kids emulate the lifestyles of these artist much like the hip hop morons do…either these artist don’t care or they don’t wanna know. We need to criticize Tego in the same way we criticize the scum who import these poisons for our youth –glamorizing the lifestyle is as good as selling it Queenie, it’s too bad you don’t see that. There is no such thing as a harmless drug trade –the demand part of the trade is just as culpable as the Supply aspects of it. You can stick your head in the sand with Milly and Tego if you want but you should be a little more socially conscious –you might just make a difference.

Of course I don't approve of little boys and girls 'perriando' and 'smoking weed'...but do you think they do it because TEGO is telling them to?
You obviously have not been privy to the studies that have shown just how IMPRESSIONBLE young children are MusicQueen. Sorry Ma, but these children are influenced by these images and Lyrics -- just like young girls are INFLUENCED by the images of waif-looking models in magazines and on the runways –SO ARE OUR KIDS WITH THIS MUSIC! Once they think these images and behavior are COOL then they slowly embrace them EVEN to the point of making that behavior the NORM. WE NEED TO STOP GLAMORIZING THIS BEHAVIOR!

Quote:
C'mon!!! I have seen PARENTS teaching little girls to dance like that (perriando)...they laugh and encourage it...when they are 3, 4 or 5 years old!!!
Sadly, that’s often the case with poor parenting. No doubt, these young girls will be barefoot and pregnant by the time they get out of high school –or they will have abortions, either way we pay as a society! Queenie, ”perriando” does have a nasty side affect that you and our youngsters seem to never take in to account –it often leads to the dumbing down our youth.

Quote:
The PARENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR KIDS ACTIONS, NOT THE MUSIC OR THE PERFORMERS!!!
Not really…in the end it’s the kids are really “RESPONSIBLE” for their actions. Parents and Society play SIGNIFICANT roles in forming the psyche of our youth so it’s important that EACH be more responsible. Sadly, parents can only do so much, many of these artist are held in higher regards then family members –it’s all quite sad.

Quote:
Give me a break...THAT KIND OF EDUCATION BEGINS AT HOME, PEOPLE!!!
Sometimes even the best parents can’t teach “self-respect” to a child that doesn’t want to learn Queen. Sometimes these kids do what they want to do –regardless of the consequences. In fact, sometimes the kids do these things just to spite the parents, it’s kind of their way of rebelling against an authority figure. Sadly, it usually works against them in the end. We ALL (parents, kids, artist) have to be MORE resposible…

What I want to communicate is, Dominican government officials shouldn't tell an artist or a person to not promote the use of drugs and then allow their country to become THE gateway for drugs on the Eastern Seaboard and the largest drug market in the world, the US. I was reading a US government report not too long ago, I'm pretty sure others have heard about it, but 40% of the drugs that come into the US go thru the DR. It's a shame to see what the DR has become.
That’s a bit unfair Jon…the same case can be made then against Mexico, P.R. and even the U.S. because they also have a role in the trade. Dominican officials have every right to criticize artist for glamorizing this nonsense…if the U.S. can’t cut off the flow (with all the billions they spend on the War against drugs) then I don’t expect Dominican officials to do any better. They can at least try to discourage the use, Surely you won't deny them that? what do you want Dominican officials to do, condone Tegos nonsense? Tego needed to be criticized because he is (INDIRECTLY) helping the DEMAND side of the drug trade --by GLAMORIZING it. That he must be aware of the incredible amount of violence back in the island because of the supply and demand aspect of the drug industry just shows how out of touch many of our artist are today – it’s either that or he doesn’t care.

It's really great that you would have such empathy for Tego Calderon, Rosario. I just hope Tego shares the same empathy for the Victims of the Drug trade back on our island.(i.e. addicts, murdered sons, etc.)

Sorry I just read this today, even though I heard this news months ago didn't know there was a thread but anyway. DR is not the only country with harsh acts on Performers. DMX got arrested for using profanity in St. Kitts & Nevis, Ja Rule got arrested in Jamaica for Marijuana use, Tego got lucky he was just banned. Don't blame because he's black stop playing the race card, DR is not the USA racism is less common. Carribean countries always have had tougher rules than the US and thats way I love my country I believe the DR should have tougher laws on many things. Tego did something wrong and he should pay.

Whoever listens to reggaeton should be in jail! The worst sound ever, it can't even be called a music genre. Same voice, Same beat, sounds like it's produced by some guy name DJ. Every song seems to start with a shoutout to DJ...

This is off the topic but I still don't understand why "high class" Dominicans [hint] call Bachata a chopo/ ghetto music when the Ultimate chopo/ ghetto music [which I don't even classify as a genre] is reggaeton. That's my 2 cents. Before you start throwing stones, I am not really attacking anybody who listens to reggaeton "music".

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that it isn't music. I hate rock and country music, but I still respect the artists and consider it to be a genre of music.

I take reggaeton any day before bachata. The day bachata takes on the dominican high class will be because of all classes in DR merged in to one big "Chopo" class. That would be the day.
