Gifts

Hi-
I'm coming soon as an exchange student, and i was wondering what Dominicans think good gifts for my host family would be. For a mother? Father? Brother (of all ages)? Sister (of all ages)? I live in California, and obviously i'm a student, so don't say multi colored laptops and matching ipods...But what stuff do you NOT have there, and obviously want as gifts? Thank you a bunch!

DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT OVER DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!. The moment you over do it, they WILL spect you to lavish them with gifts all the time. I learned the hard way over 20 years ago.
Keep it very simple. Good shoes and sneakers are expensive over there so buy them some. Perfumes are also welcome. Jeans and shirts also.
One thing I have learned to some dominicans, if you bring them nothing or if you bring them something, they are never satisfied. Good luck.
