I found what I presume to be a gambling slip from a place called Real Sport. My friend put some stuff in my bag and I was shocked when I read that he bet 20 pesos and made 3000 pesos. Is that right or am I reading it wrong??? How does this place work? Do you get the money right away or go to collect it later? I didnt even realise they had like betting shops here!!

Why do you think it won? If it was in your bag it probably was a loser. Yes you can win 3,000RD for 20RD, you only need about 9 winners out of 9.

You have a better chance of the car in front of you stopping for a red light.

I presumed they had won as at the bottom of the piece of paper it said like 40 pesos....which i presume they paid. Then underneath it said 3000 pesos which i presumed is what they had won??? Or is that amount what they would win?? I presume they were betting on scores of baseball and basketball games...is betting popular here?

Take a look around when you drive down any street. There are as many "bancas" as their are colmados.

It is hugely popular here - keeps peoples hopes up...... of course this is an illusion....

The 3,000 is what they would have won. The key being "would have".

That made me laugh and it is so true. Gambling is also a tax on those that have never taken a course in probability and statistics.
