I noticed in the "befriend" section that avatars are now an option...but where do I upload my pic for avatars? Or is that not possible yet?

I'm still getting familiar with this site...and yet, the more familiar I get, the faster things change...good thing my blonde hair only gets in the way 1/2 the time...the other half the time I usually "get it"..whatever "it" may be!

As stated by Robert in an earlier post Avatars are not going to be available yet as they used to be and where abused so Kali its not just u ( and ur blonde hair lol).

oh thank goodness...I was just lookin' into buying some dark hair dye to solve all my problems! LOL

Hopefully the privilage of avatars comes back sooner than later. I read fast, but don't always remember who said what, and without avatar association to name and posts...it's even more difficult to remember who's who and who said what!

If appropriate to ask, what was the problem before with avatars?

We have had the ability to add avatars and signatures for years, but we have no plan to activate this functionality.

Why not? How about just the avatars? I can understand keeping the sigs out...it makes things messy...but the avatars can really help with identifying each member...and remember who's who and what they have said....if there's a justified reason I'm really curious...only cuz I'm nosey! LOL

I have three questions, and they are probably all very stupid so apologies in advance.

1. My mum used to check all my posts every day to see what i was up to. She isn't a member, and now she can no longer click on my name and then 'see all Matilda's posts'. Is there any way she can do this or does she have to join as Matilda's mum which could be very dangerous as God knows what she will post!

2. Whispering......what is an avatar???

3. I have now got a friend!!!! What do I do with her?

I just tried that without signing in and yes I guess it has changed now. Ask your Mom to sign up.

2 An avatar is a picture of yourself or whatever one chooses to have under their username but don't worry about it because I don't think it will happen anytime soon.

Hey Matilda...no question is stupid...so no worries. Some people know lots about forums...others don't! There's always a starting point for EVERYONE!

An avatar is a picture that would be beside your name on the left when you post, and show up in your profile as well.

As far as your mother goes...I won't judge her for snooping, but boy oh boy that's not nice to do that to you. If I were you, I wouldn't question what she can or can't do as a non-member...I would talk to the admins here and see if they will allow you to close your account and then create a new one using a name that doens't expose your identity to your mother. If she were to join, and everyone knew what she was doing, I don't think anyone would support the idea! That's just not fair to you or anyone else.

You have a friend and you want to know what to do with her...well that I could make some seriously sarcastic remarks, but I will refrain as I'm not sure how old you are. I'm guessing someone has "befriended" you or added you as a friend here on the board? Well...it just helps to keep in touch and follow that members posts and activity more closely.

I know I add the people who I get familiar with...it's hard getting to know everyone on a forum, so when you do start to become familiar with a particular person, you can add them - like a mental note.
