As far as your mother goes...I won't judge her for snooping, but boy oh boy that's not nice to do that to you. If I were you, I wouldn't question what she can or can't do as a non-member...I would talk to the admins here and see if they will allow you to close your account and then create a new one using a name that doens't expose your identity to your mother. If she were to join, and everyone knew what she was doing, I don't think anyone would support the idea! That's just not fair to you or anyone else.

You have a friend and you want to know what to do with her...well that I could make some seriously sarcastic remarks, but I will refrain as I'm not sure how old you are. I'm guessing someone has "befriended" you or added you as a friend here on the board? Well...it just helps to keep in touch and follow that members posts and activity more closely.

I know I add the people who I get familiar with...it's hard getting to know everyone on a forum, so when you do start to become familiar with a particular person, you can add them - like a mental note.

Hope that was of some help to you.
Very helpful thank you very much. Yes I have my first friend on the board, but what does that mean? What happens now? Is this person now different as they are a friend? What do I do with them?

I've wondered same thing myself! I'm fine with having friends and social networking and all, but it doesn't seem to change anything in how we can use the board...

Right, it means nothing. But as I was saying...being able to add friends is just a tool within a forum that creates an easy reference point for you to find the ones you are familiar with.

Example, if I'm new here, but familiar with only 2 people.....let's say I want to find a post of thiers that I have not subscribed to...or see what they have wrote about, having them on my friends list makes it easy for me to find them and then go to "find all posts/threads" by this member..instead of having to find a post by them on the board before being able to search the rest of thier posts. Keith is right, it doesn't change the way in which you will use the forum, it's really just a tool for you to make navigating around here easier.

I was just playing with my new tools. The add/ignore has always there but is more visible now.

I would probably never use the ignore as the people who start good arguments/disagreements, the ones who would fit the bill to have "ignore" used on them....they are the people I enjoy the most.

Of all the forums I've ever been part of, there's always people who get wound like clocks over others disagreeing with them. It's horrible for them, but I'm a very attentive audience when it does happen.

My advice to anyone - Chill out! It's a FORUM...not the family dinner table! LOL

Here's a question - when someone sends you a friend request....is their request REALLY visable when you go into your own profile? I don't think anyone wants to be friends with me ...lol...or I just don't know where the pending requests are sitting.

They are on your profile page. I just sent you one and it seems you had 5 friends already

I get an email notification when one comes in because I have set up my account that way.

You also see them on the private message icon above on the right side of any page where is says welcome kaliEyes.
