I agree with you to some extent but you must also see my point: for every one who comes out as a physician from projects, how many come out as criminals, end up in jail or simply losers?

WOW, I have seen many well educated, well off people in jail. Look in the news everyday and they are there. You always talk about people from the projects like they are all criminals and low life's. News flash!! Many decent and respectful people live and have lived there. News flash! Many who are from " well to do" families are scum. From politicians, to Presidents of large corporations in all walks of life, there is corruption, thievery, murder, rape, child porn etc. You seem to live in a world of "rose colored glasses" when it comes to the well to do and are so uneducated about those who have to fight to survive and still come out as decent, law abiding and respectful humans.
You know some of the most "beautiful people in the world" are only that way until they open their mouth.

I guess I had lived in a different country when I thought I was living in USA. Let me put you a bit straight: projects is not a place where well-to-do people dream about living. lets not fool anyone here. I am not talking about the one lawyer or the one doctor who came out of projects, lets talk about the rest who end up in jails, if not then they end up working in the mail room of some office building, and the rest, jobless welfare dependent losers. I have seen projects, i knew people from projects when I was young and i know cab driver who hate going to projects in NY, thats why we have the gypsy cabs who serve those areas. so please, don't try to fool me about projects, tell this to a dominican living in campo; they might believe you easily.
Now if projects have changed over the years then I think I maybe wrong but I still see people from projects who act like thugs.

Not from NY, but I could care less. I'd just like the thread closed. It's run it course and has degenerated. I was just trying to divert attention and change the subject.
Still the Yankees suck....

I don't think it was DKs' intention to open up such a can of worms as this thread has evolved into(or devolved into, depending on how you look at it ).
When some of us get together, and we DR1 members are definitely NOT a homogeneous group, its' nice to see how well we get along despite our differences of opinions about everything.
You would not be able to tell who among us grew up in "the hood". And that is a testament to what we bring to the table as people who refused to let their surroundings get the better of them.
I certainly do not feel I need to carry the torch for my people-my people are whomever I choose to associate with and who will accept me for who I am, sarcasm notwithstanding.
It would seem as if people who generalize want to lock a certain group into a "type" based not on their qualities but on their circumstances, and this is where I think AZB, for example, is misunderstood.
He is not talking about every single person in the projects, just those who live down to the worst stereotypes and embrace those stereotypes not only in appearance but in lifestyle and take pride in having characteristics they should well be ashamed of.
I don't think thats' so hard to understand.

This thread has nothing to do with the NY Yankees or any other NY team.
Why don't you and Mr. Lu go to a private chat and compare notes?
This thread should definitely be closed!!!!!
