Dominican flag makes the world's most beautiful flag contest
Madrid.– The World's Most Beautiful Flag Contest, an unofficial competition created by a user on 20minutos.es, has received hundreds of thousands of votes since it began in the beginning of June.
The contest began with 104 flags, eliminating the five flags with the least votes every two days. The competition is coming to an end and is now in its final stage. The last week of voting has begun and users across the world are chossing their favorite flags.
The final ten flags remaining are Mexico, Peru, Uruguay, the Dominican Republic, Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Guatemala and Puerto Rico.
Dominican Republic's white and blue flag has been in the top ten almost the entire contest and many Dominicans are eager to see it win. It is currently ranked number four with almost 54,000 points. Mexico is ranked number one with nearly 193,000 points.

Who would [u]not want to vote for their own national flag? In any case, why isn't my flag listed? Everybody knows Colombia's flag is the most beautiful in the world! Me thinks you, Mr. DR, are an agent of the your government's futile propaganda machinery! This is a rigged costest!

Colombia's flag is not that great, although chicas colombianas are considered the most beautiful in the world. However, the Ecuadorean flag is beautiful !

Colombiana,
I agree with you, Colombia has a very beautiful flag.
Every 2 days they eliminated the least popular flag
and they are now in the last week.
They started with 104 flags.
It is true that everyone will vote for their own flag which is expected
but remember that you had to rate other flags as well from 1 to 5
so the your choice to rate your own flag high is probably expected
but your true judgement comes in when you have to rate the other flags.

Even though I'm Dominican/American, I would have to vote for Mexico as having the most beautiful flag. I think it should win, not so much for its physical appearence, but for the story behind the emblem of an eagle holding a snake in its claws.
The Aztec legend said that they should establish their city on the spot where they saw an eagle on a cactus, eating a snake. While searching, they found this on a lake island and founded Tenochtitlan, or present day Mexico City. That's a pretty cool legend.
And at least there's no bible or cross like in the Dominican Flag.

Gracias Elvis. We do have have a reputation for being gorgeous, but I think that goes for most latin women throughout. After all, If i'm not mistaken, most "Ms. Universe" crowns have been won by latinas.
Mr. DR, Just jesting. The Dominican flag certainly deserves to be admired for its' most unusual pattern and design. Is there another "Betsy Ross" behind it all?

Pagans believes, the Mexican flag colors are too lame, and the only different from the Italian flag is the "Coat of Arms" not original for my taste.
In the contrary the Dominican flag is colorful and beautifully designed, it has a Holy Bible and the Cross of Christ.
Read the descriptions of the Our flag:
The coat of arms of the Dominican Republic features a shield in similarly quartered colors as the flag, supported by a bay laurel branch (left) and a palm frond (right); above the shield, a blue ribbon displays the national motto: Dios, Patria, Libertad (God, Fatherland, Liberty). Below the shield, the words República Dominicana appear on a red ribbon (more recent versions, this red ribbon is depicted as having its tips and tassels flexed upward). In the center of the shield, flanked by three spears (two of them holding Dominican banners) on each side, is a Bible with a small golden cross above it, which is opened (according to popular belief) to the Gospel of John, 8:32, which reads Y la verdad os hará libre (And the truth shall set you free).
The coat of arms appears in the center of the flag of the Dominican Republic.
