i have never tried mcdonalds in USA but i do not see any difference between DR version and european. same slightly plastic taste that gives me all day burps.
I stand corrected Ricardo u were right........DV8 iam sorry that u have the burps when u eat at Micky D's but there is nothing plastic about a Big Mac here in the states yum yum good.....lol
The Mcd's at the intersection of La E Sadhala and La 27 is ok but the difference is noticeable between it and the American ones. I think the hamburger meat is the same but the bread doesn't seem to be and worse, nor the fries either. I'm sure they are using a different cooking oil.
Bottom line is a good burger and fries can't be found here in Santiago. The best burger that I have had here other than at my house was one or two or three I had at the Hotel Jaragua in SD. It was Angus beef and cooked to perfection and the fries were no doubt cooked in Crisco. No doubt they had a gringo in the kitchen.
Mickey D/BurgerKing/KFC/TacoBell etc etc...Why, except for the "gringo" factor.??? i went to McD, three times: Twice with my #1 son's #1 for a "treat", and once with my daughter's boy, my adorable Marco...huh! Never, ever again.
If you want a really good hamburger, go up the Rincon Largo Street, past Lucas Rojas Church, and on your left side, right by a little park, there is a burger place that has been there for ten or more years, run by a guy named Moscoso....BTW, that's where #1 takes his #1 when he's here visiting!!
I don't get why people keep saying the McDonalds here are so expensive. A Big Mac or Quarter Pounder Value Meal is 170-180 pesos...that's about $5 USD..."supersizing" adds 30 pesos (less than $1)...They also have several "McAhorro" meals for 110 pesos...or about $3...is it that much cheaper in the US?
As for taste and quality, if you like McDonalds in the US, you'll like the McD's here, at least in Santiago and SD...I don't go all that often, but when I do, I find it to taste pretty much the same as the US - even the fries.
Can't say the same thing for Burger King...tastes completely different than in the US...
Well last I looked in the US it was a 1.00 menu. Here the same offering is a 100.00 peso menu so instead of 1.00 for a double cheeseburger its about 2.90
I wonder why there is still no MC Donald in Higuey, Bavaro or Punta Cana.
The reason may be that Amable Aristy owns the Shell gas stations in the area, that are associated with Burger King?

Burger King has a 50 peso menu but not much on it - chicken tenders, single cheeseburger, or chickenburger but I'd eat anything at Burger King over anything at MickeyDee's.
