Default Nursing School

Hello all I have a question, my wife is studying nursing at a school in Puerta Plata she is also studying Human Services at another University. Now I think if she comes to NY the HS degree she receives wont be valid here and she would have to study again here. My question is what about the nursing degree, since many people study abroad 4 this. Can she become an Registered Nurse in DR and have a valid license to practice in another country.

Thanks All

Aside from educational requirements, Licensure is generally State-based in the US, regardless of where you come from or where you studied. Each State has it's own unique set of requirements/pre-requisites, so need check with that State.

And, as always, University programs must be accredited, so need verify the accreditation status of the institution in question. For example, PUCMMA has an accreditation for certain programs which can matriculate to US Universities. One major program is with the Kellogg School of Management. This is only an example.

Unless it is from a university, no. However, any nursing training will be much appreciated if she chooses to go to nurses training in the states...And she will be much ahead of the other students.

I do believe her high school will be recognized in the states. However, check with local authorities..

Your wife needs to look up the

CGNFS; this agency is an accreditation group in the states that compares your wifes training with that received by her US counter-parts .... Be aware that some states also will require her to have completed X amount of school years PRIOR to university

NCLEX; she must satisfy the NCLEX .... there are enormous amounts of information on this subject on the net. Be advised the NCLEX is NOT easy
