    Default Marbete 2013

    From today's Sosua News:

The spokesman for the agency for internal taxes (Dirección General de la Impuestos Internos, DG II) has announced that from 10 August to 11 November 2012 the new Marbete can be purchased. The Marbete is proof that the car owner has paid his taxes.

The Marbete must be placed on the right side of the front windscreen of the vehicle. At the request for the Marbete a copy of the registration of the car (la matricula) should be handed over. In Sosúa you can purchase your Marbete at the 'La Banco Nacional', just opposite the police station and right next to the bike shop of Benny Katz. The good news is that for 2013 the taxes were not increased. Car owners of a vehicle of the year 2006 and older pay 1200 pesos. For owners of vehicles built in 2007 or later the costs are 2200 pesos. You can also purchase your Marbete through the Internet.
    See: www.dgii.gov.do.
After 11 November, car owners without a valid Marbete pay a 600 peso fine

Thanks for the info Ken. Does anyone else but me wonder why almost all other government related licenses/fees must be paid for at Ban Reservas, but the Marbete is at La Nacional? What is up with that?

Am I just blind or is the renewal not available online yet?

For Punta Cana / Bavaro, they're normally availabe at the Associacion de Ahorros y Prestamos en Veron.

Vimenca in Fruisa usually has them. Also the Prestamos in the back of the mall across from BanReservas where the Orange store is located has them. Whether they have them at this time I have no idea as this just came in.

Thanks Ken.We went by today in Sosua and they do not have them yet. Perhaps the Sosua news had a typo and meant Sept 10 not Aug 10.
