Default Interesting Article

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
Successes have been wrought `against all odds'

We have to celebrate the small successes, as much as we complain about the failures. Enjoy!

A relatively unbiased summary, hard to argue with any part of that article, except he was a little soft on Hippo...lol

I have always liked Marifeli Perez-Stable's analysis, opinions etc. She is a very level-headed Cuban.

despite all the problems, we have to keep in mind that this is a young democracy. it will take generations to work out the kinks....all-in-all, the DR is doing pretty well...a seminal moment was not allowing Mejia to steal the 2004 elections....that was a major accomplishment

but you have to keep the heavy pressure on all these politicians...make them answer the tough questions and confront them when their graft is overly eggregious (sp).....no complacency, please

The question is, who's going to convice the general public that there is no easy way out? The political hype being fed to the uneducated masses, ie the ones who have the most votes) is working so well that Hipolito might even get re-elected...
