Smile Marriage certificate help!!

Please can someone help me.....we are in the process of migrating to australia from the uk and have just been informed that my husband needs to send in with our visa application his marriage certificate from his first marriage along with his divorce papers. Unfortunatly he threw his marriage cert out when he got through his divorce 9 years ago thinking that he would never need them as he has his divorce papers.
Please can anyone advise us where we can get hold of a copy of the original cert as we desperatly need it and will we be able to do this over the phone as we can't travel out there due to financial sitations.
Please any help would be grateful as this site is my only hope!!!

I am presuming that your husband was married (to his previous wife) in The DR??? Which locality & when? Being British (again I presume) you could contact the British Consulate/Embassy out here & request the help of the local agents/consuls! If you confirm the above points & the marriage took place on the North Coast, I could give you the e-mail address of the incumbent up here for you to start talking to. ~ Grahame.

PS to above!! A salutary lesson to you AND your husband - no matter HOW Pi$$ed you are at previous relationships (Business/personal) ALWAYS hold on to official paperwork/contracts!! With the increasing of 'globalisation' who knows WHO is going to ask for WHAT, WHEN, WHERE & HOW!! Grahame.

Is there any indication that this poster has a DR connection? Apart from the fact that they chose to post on a DR forum?

Nikki: This is gonna cost you no matter what.
Where, when and who are the most important points. The document can be obtained in Santo Domingo. However, data on the details are most important.

Default sorry!

So sorry forgot to mention the obvious details due to stress.. lol
He was married in 1995 at san felipe de puerto plata and with response to grahams comment, i have already made my feelings clear to my husband as regards to throwing away important documents lol.
I keep all paper work as i get paranoid people will find anything important which i throw out where as my husband likes to throw out papers he feels are no longer needed where as now he will start to keep everything after this episode lol.
Thank you tho for your help and hopefully now i have posted this thread with the required details on, i should get more help.
I have emailed the british embassy in DR and awaiting a reply, so fingers crossed but anymore info will still be greatly appreciated.
Again thank you!!

British Embassy in Santo Domingo????? Forget it!! I think the response from there will be pretty 'non-committal'.

Send an e-mail to the North Coast's Brit. Consul Genni Mendez on genni_mendez@hotmail.com, tell him what you need (& when you need it by!!!) & ask him how much he will charge for this service & then push him to get the certificate for you once you agree price!

Mendez is a really nice guy, speaks good(ish) English but please type correct punctuation & Capitals when you write to him as his ability to 'interpret' how you write on internet will not match those of natural English speakers!!! Hope you are not in a tremendous hurry - the task could take 5 or 6 weeks even if he gets a rapid post system back to the UK. As mentioned above, you will have to chase a few times!!

If you want to really screw things up, you could mention I told you to contact him - we used to work together & still talk fairly regularly! !

Nikki,
If you click the cursor over the bushbaby name on my post you will go into the 'Profile' details. There you will see that my name is Grahame & I have the surname of BUSH (hence Bushbaby)!

Re your PM
If you place your cursor over the link of genni_mendez@hotmail.com, you will note a small hand appears. Click on this & it will automatically take you into your e-mail system & enter the correct address for you in the address box - the mistake you are making is that you are not putting the '_' (Shift & dash key together) in between genni & Mendez!

I'll send you his Tel. No by PM reply! ~ Grahame.
