Oh come on!
First of all, Maldonado did not, I repeat, did not built the Malecón Center. That was arquitect Jesús Rodríguez Sandoval and his construction company. Maldonado did tried to intervene in the project and halt its construction when he was Secretary of Public Works.
Second, Maldonado has been involved in the money laundering crimes connected with the Marbella corruption case and his close buddy, Carlos Sánchez for quite some time. Plenty of chelitos has fallen from those deals over the years.
Third, can you elaborate on one of Maldonado's "brilliant" ways he parted the Dominican government from its money when he was Secretary of Public Works under the Mejia administration?
Start with the deal he made concerning the purchase of the Hispaniola Hotel (the hotel behind the Hotel Santo Domingo) from the government for pennies on the dollar and later he resold it to the government for hundreds of millions of dollars. All of that occurred while he was Secretary of Public Works.
Go on now, explain that and a few other shady deals that man has been involved in.
Maldonado a successful businessman? Ha! Successful con man is more like it!
