You're right, that's no way to live.

So, why do you live that way? Move, for God's sake.

I'm pretty critical of things in the DR, but your characterization of life here is pretty bleak.

Where are you originally from? Where and why do you live here? I ask these questions out of curiosity, I'm not judging your situation or how you got there. However, I'd be willing to bet that most people on this board live under reasonably safe, decent conditions.

An old cop joke. But i agree with you.
However, as a rule, anyone who is in jail, has done something illegal. Maybe not what they are suspected/charged with but something... Ok, it's another cop joke.

Hi Scandall,

I'm Dominican, born here and raised in the US and I have been living here for 7 years now. Is moving the solution? not for me; everyone in my house is American citizen so we can leave whenever we want, but we choose to stay because we love our country and I would like to see it change, and also because we live in the most beautiful country in the world.

What I meant was...why don't you move neighborhoods? You can be patriotic without living under the conditions you described.

I'm describing the whole country's condition, not my own, I live in a "nice" neighborhood, one of those targeted by crooks because their own neighborhoods are too poor and there's nothing to steal.

Maybe you have a tendency to argue other people's point, or you live in wonderland or you don't live here, pero como decimos los Dominicanos "no trates de tapar el sol con un dedo", which literally translated means "don't try to block the sun with one finger"

Point taken, I think is time to stop this tirade or take it to go, as my daughter would say

Maybe this article in the Times will come as means of support for the new Director of National Police here.

'Kill the bastards' South African police advised - Telegraph

wonder if the Human Rights people are booking their flights as we speak?

That article made my day. Crime there is obviously worst than here, but a downscale version of what they were told to do is OK in my book.

Yes I agree......the last bit puts it into more perspective but The SA police were never actually known for there reluctance to shoot first ask later I dont think they really need any encouragement.

I think here at least they do ask questions first. They do lose a lot of police here too was reading something about the number for Jan - March its about 20 something so far this year.

Skippy!
