Yeah well... maybe you will see less limpia botas and limpia cristales on intersections, because in the end, all they ever will do about it, is to make it illegal... so you'll see more delinquentes instead.
You wouldn't really want to believe that a substantial part of the monetary help destined to poor families will really reach them? And IF some of it would really get to some of those families, what has handing out money ever changed? Sends out the wrong signal.
What needs to be changed is the lack of productivity and thus lack of REAL jobs in this country, so families CAN work and earn an honest buck.
What needs to change, for that to happen is that quality FREE and public education is plentiful and available to everybody in this country WHEREVER the live (si Senor, en los campos tambien)... and that includes books and professional education later on.
We need more production and manufacturing for the LOCAL market, so we have more work and import less. Thus lovering prices for a lot of products here too.
I have the greatest of respect for these kids and lads who chose to try to peddle cell phone accessories, cell phone pre-paid cards, wash windshields or clean shoes OVER going down a much more lucrative appearing route. And all that while taking the uncalled for offenses and verbal abuse and the cheap hypocrisy from drivers of cars worth more than their parents home and next 10 years income, telling them "... ai mi amor, que no tengo hoy!"... with enough dignity not to become aggressive.
Yes, at times they can be quite annoying but at the end, they are not the ones who mug you instead.
... J-D.
