I also heard a lot of good things about Guillermo Moreno. They say he's an honest guy. Does anyone here know him personally that can ratify this? I will try and get more info on him myself, because he seems like the kind of leader we might need - Leonel still seems honest in my opinion, but he has too many debts to pay back, making him as corrupt as any other.
Honest?????

How can you consider him honest when he turns a blind eye to all of the botellas and robbing of public money? I sometimes fail to understand how people see him as such a great leader when he fails to address the number one problem of the government here - it's almost as if people are content to know that public officials, through legal and illegal means, are robbing this country of billions of dollars. This money is the pueblos and should go to security, public health and infrastructure, not new jipetas, houses, girlfriends, vacations, private businesses and the like.

Totally agree with you.
Actually most of my friends (Dominicans) think the same way. The ones that do not agree with this point of view is because they have interests in this government and of course are part of the corruption.

About Guillermo Moreno, he did a pretty good job as our Fiscal, actually the reason why he was kicked out was because of his fight against corruption. Many people were not happy about it and off he went.

We really need new blood among our leaders because the ones we have now are fully corrupt.

With regard to Moreno, I understand he has socialist /communist leanings, which a not good - just look at Chavez.

I don't really understand the extreme form of gov't that always seems to take place in latinoamerica - it seems it's either right wing dictatorships or communism/socialism - how about a democracy based in a capitalismo conciente?

If it is fair communism and socialism, I am all for it. I would rather that everyone be equal in wealth than having some rich and some starving.

Of course, when has this ever happened? Still, if he will fight corruption that's 100% better than what we have now.

For the others, please not that I said Leonel SEEMS honest. As in, he appears to be... I never stated he was! Anyone who reads a newspaper and has to pay his 46% taxes knows this ain't so. Maybe the way I said it... oh well.

One of the main problems with communism/socialism are the inherent purges (masacres) of those with ideolocical differences, not to mention their gravitation towards dictatorship and turning it's citizens into an inefficient, unproductive workforce.

Stop acting like John Wayne and participate in organizations that already exist working against corruption. I mentioned one in the other thread you started about this same subject. You are sounding like PICHARDO and his pie in the sky dreams.

That's the best laugh I've had in a while.............mental images working overtime here.

Chip, you can look up A.Hidalgo's suggestion on the other thread. Us community activist types need to be independent & pro-active..........
