I will apologize to those who have actively participated in this thread for having hijacked it. It was not my intent and I would be a hypocrite to say that it doesn't bother me when others do it.
I just wanted to make a point regarding the state of the DR1 community as a whole, as I do feel that in some distorted 21st century way, this is a community. My comments and references are only made with the sincerest interest of facilitating things and helping continue the quality discourse I have come to enjoy in my brief time here.
Having said that, I realize I might have not efficiently communicated my opinion or I might be wrong. Either way please continue.
Cheers to all,
Mr. Lu

you will get it together,
of course the mostly used language on the bord is english,
but i would not agree to delete stuff or not allow it because it is written in spanish,
it gives the right 'extra' to a discussion, and that the opinion of the fellow dominicans on discussions about their country are needed to keep it on a real road and not just a utopian expaths discussion about some rumors with at the end no sense at all.
english is just my 3rd language, so i am very far from beeing perfect on that, at least i understand what is written and try to answer in the way the rest of the crowd get's me right.
to separate the forum in a english and a spanish section would be in my opinion a big loss, because then the different opinions would never come together.
at the end a spanish post when asked nicely for a translation will be translated phrase by phrase by the participants on the thread.
the bord without real local input would not be worth to visit.
cheers from the beach office
Mike

Covering The Spectrum
Covering the spectrum and thinking that for reasons of circumstances we, Dominicans, have allowed the country to become an international recreational park, managed by non-nationalistic capitalist uncompassionate, no good investors whom primary goal is to take their profit out of the country thus exploiting and contributing to the extreme poverty level that currently exist in our beloved motherland, Republica Dominicana.
To these capitalists octopus investors and their prey is that this site is helping and targeting thus resisting, and at time plainly refusing, the usage of the Spanish language.
The government needs to further tax the profits of these Banditos Capitalists’' profits and force them, by law, to reinvest at least 50% of their profits back into the country's economy. Someday we will stop the exploitation of our country's national resources by regulating everything possible including internet site like this. I am sure DR1 is up-to-date with their taxes.

Also, I strongly believe that we should at least have one Spanish section thread to discuss a wide range of topics so that Dominicans have the chance to participate. It will also have the affect of allowing foreigners like myself to see how the native speakers discuss issues while also being able to contribute not to mention help us refine our Spanish.
