Bridge over the Masipedro River, Bonao

The community of Masipedro - Arroyo Toro is blocked everytime that rains because there is no crossing over the Masipedro River. The bridge over the River was initiated during the reelection campaign of President Leonel Fernandez, the construction began at an accelerated pace but after the elections the construction was stop, the conditions to cross the river got worse due to the ground movements that changed the course of the water and now every little rain obstruct the crossing because rocks, sand, etc., get on the way and no vehicules can cross.

The agriculture products stay uncollected on the fields and damaged because can not be taken to the markets.

The access to hospitals and clinics to Bonao in cases of emergencies is in jeopordy, there have being calamities for people trying to cross the river in desperation to get medical assistance and there are not other alternatives to cross.

The vendors trucks who supply the colmados in that community have not access, these are some of the conditions that make very difficult for the people who reside in this community to survive. They don´t have their basic needs covered.

We beleive that President Fernández is not aware of the conditions and of the work done on this project because there are signs on the Autopista Duarte that say,

BRIDGE OVER THE MASIPEDRO RIVER - ANOTHER CONCLUDED PROMISE,

it is not concluded, it is not even being worked on for a long time, there is no 1/4 of the project done.

This project will provide prosperity and will advance this community to have the basic living conditions. The situation created by the lack of attention to the needs of the Masipedro-Arroyo Toro is making this community to be isolated and priving them of taking advantage of the possibilities of growing and having a better living conditions according to the actual times.
