Quote by Mike: "if a foreign women doesn't like the dominican laws about abortions, just don't get pregnant while here.
you don't like the rude way immigrations is picking up illegal foreigners and deports them back home, just don't come illegally over here.
you disagree with the local rules in case of driving licenses for foreigners in the DR, just don't consider to drive a car here on the Island, drive around in your homecountry by your country's laws and rules and fines etc.
you don't like the low wages paid for the stu.boring jobs at the call centers on the Isle, just don't consider the DR as your destin where you wanna move to 'on a low budget'.

- Wow Mike. I'm loving your logic. Basically you are saying that although I am a legal citizen here and want to raise my future kids in the country then I still don't have a right to an opinion concerning the way the country is run? If I were to decide to have a child with my Dominican spouse then I'd better get pregnant outside the DR as if it turns out to be an ectopic pregnancy then I'd be condemned to die if I stayed? As a law-abiding foreigner I believe I have EVERY right to have an opinion about changes in a Constitution that affect ALL of us in the country: men, women, children, foreigners and Dominicans alike.

As you are a LEGAL CITIZEN here then this would not apply to you, only to resident/nonresident foreigners.

If your carrying dual citizenship you can leave to the USA for your Abortion,

Why would I leave to the US if I needed an abortion? I'm not even from there.

And I don't want an abortion. I actually would very much like to have children in the near future. My point is that if I were to fall pregant and were found to be at risk and have serious health problems then the law here would not allow me to choose my own life over that of the fetus. I would esentially be condemned to die if I couldn't get out of the country fast enough to seek medical attention elsewhere.

The comment I made about living here is that certain laws affect everyone regardless of whether they are from here or were born here. That is why I have every right to take an interest in Article 30 and its implications. By living here with my husband, it affects me and is an infringement on my human rights just as much as any other woman that lives here or even visits here temporarily and finds themself in this horrible situation.

Interesting clip, It shows that the wording is pretty much indefensible by intelligent people in informed company - as opposed to the likes of El Chino and his buddies in Congress.
