Default Dominican cedula

Is there anybody who can tell me if there is a possibility now to renew your cedula for foreigners in Santiago? As I read in todays newspapers that there is a migration office funcioning (?) in Santiago, I suppose to get your cedula it must also be possible, but again you're never sure of something around here.

Appreciate your response.

Your cédula (identity document) must be renewed by the Central Electoral Board (Junta Central Electoral) not by the General Migration Direction (Direcciòn General de Migraciòn) The latter is the competent authority to apply for a residence permit or to renew it whereas the ID document is issued and renewed by the JCE.

Thank you for clearing that up. Off course I am not going to the Migracion with my cedula to have it renewed. But the issue is, the JCE tells you that you can do it in Santiago. Santiago JCE tells you it is not possible. But what I need to know is if there is another place in Santiago where I can have my cedula renewed.

Are you saying that your residency can now be renewed in Santiago?

The website for the JCE is http://www.jce.do/

The list of centers seems to indicate that the only one for foreigners is in Santo Domingo http://www.jce.do/ListadosCentros.asp but maybe that is because the website hasn't be updated. Try sending an email question to elecciones@jce.do

I've got an email response from the JCE and it's not possible to renew your cedula in Santiago.
