Try this email: simone.godefroy@dfait-maeci.gc.ca

Also, instead of calling, send faxes. Be sure to indicate that you're CCing the Minister of Education, whether you really do or not.

They lost our papers in Haiti, so stay on top of them!

Yeah, the Minister of Education would be really interested, I'm sure... I meant the Minister of Immigration.

Lightbulb If it has not been a year it is early

Husbands ( wives) can take longer whether from in Canada (which they hate) or outside. Fiancees are in some cases a lot easier.

But it is not uncommon to take a year from start to end. I take it you are not using an immigration lawyer ( not a dubious "consultant") in Canada?

The good ones are pretty good at expediting even though there is supposed to be no such thing.

I was at one time sponsoring under a fiancee visa - it was approved in under a month pending just the medical and the interview ( which they said may not have to take place). As it turns out we did not go ahead but it ws pretty simple.

The lawyer was $1,500 plus costs. And of course the Immigration Canada costs on top of that.

Faxing the M of I is no point unless he is your MP, otherwise if you want intervention you really need to enlist the support of your MP (and if he or she is not a Liberal well, there goes that idea).

It only took 5 months to bring my husband here, in 2000. I have heard that things take even less time now. Follow Jane's advice, Simone Godefroy was actually my agent in Haiti. If you speak French, speak French to her when communicating. When I e-mailed her, I always received prompt responses. She helped us tremendously, with bringing my husband, and later on, his son, to live with us.

thanks everyone for your responses, I tried that e-mail address but it wouldnt go through, I dont know if there is a mistake in the spelling or something. I checked the status of the papers on line and it is now saying in Process, So hopefully they'll contact him soon. Any other contacts anyone has would be greatly appreciated.
