Default You have rights

You have the right to be the baby's father.
I think that Fabio, the guru of this page should anser your citizenship question..

In terms of remaining a foreign citizen, but working in the DR, you have moved up the food chain in the line of firing procedures, if that makes you feel any better.

Under the Labor Code, only dominican citizens have higher rights than you do now, as the father of a dominican child. Even higher than a foreigner married to a dominican, if they do not have children. So cheer up, it isn't all bad news.

You might need to forget the passport thing though. Settle for residency and smile.

The same as if you owned real estate: you only need six months' residency (instead of 2 years) in the DR before being able to apply for citizenship.
