Post Travel to DR from USA with my 13 yr old niece, What's needed?

Could someone please tell me what is needed for me to travel to the DR "Cabarete" with my 13 year old niece? I live in the US and need to know exactly what I am required to do.

Thank you in advance for your help.

She will need her pasport and you will need a notarized letter from both her parents giving you permission to take her with you, specifying where you are going, how long,...etc.

Default Now let's see

You: Proof of your citizenship-Passport is best but birth certificate + driver's license+ something else with a picture will do.
A letter from the child's parents, authorizing you to accompany the child and describing the itinerary. This should be certified by the nearest Dominican consulate.
The child: Passport or the same documents where appropiate.

Travelling with children, not your own, is getting more and more complicated, but it is probably better for all concerned..

The following is taken from a document published by the US Consulate in Santo Domingo. It may be of interest even though your niece is 13:

Travel of Children: In an effort to prevent international child abduction, the Dominican Republic requires that minors under 13 years of age traveling alone, or with anyone other than a parent, present written authorization from a parent or legal guardian. This authorization should be in Spanish, and it must be notarized at a Dominican consulate in the United States.

As have others, I'd recommend being sure your niece has property entry documents, plus you should have the notarized authorization.

Came here three years ago with my ex wife and (then) 7 year old sone. We got him a passport for $40 before we left. But a birth certificate and picture ID is fine, too. (He was very proud of his 'driver's license' as he called it). And if she;s not your's, you'll need the permission papers. In Spanish!
