Default legal requirements

we are visiting the dominican republic for the first time in November. we are travelling from the U.K. and I would be grateful if anyone could tell me the legal requirements of marrying abroad while you are a citizen of the U.K.

Default If you are going to Sosua

Then you want to get in touch with Bienvenida Dumé the Justice that does the marrying.

The fee is about $100 (+/-). Piece of cake as long as you bring proof of your single state.. ie.: Divorce papers or a letter from the local priest that you are single...and your passports..

Not complicated and if you are there for the 26th we'll all have a party ar Rocky's to celebrate the wedding along with Thanksgiving!!

Unhappy Yes, Pam ...

Getting married is easy. It's the being married part that can cause a few bumps in the road of life.

If you don't have the papers showing previous divorce, that's easy to fix here, too. A few extra dollars and the lawyer will have an official write up a paper certifying that he knows you to be single. A few pesos, and a few hours, getting the required little stamps affixed to the affadavit. Et voila! You're certifiably single. Pun intended. Oops! That's Haitian isn't it? Well, I used to speak French once-upon-a-time before I came here and became linguistically confused.
