thanks everyone for your help......I'm not in a hurry to get a quick divorce, I just want it done......however 500-700 us is about double in canadian. I am taking care of our kids and that is a little steep, as he does not want to contribute...he is lazy and doesn't like to work......he has never sent me any money, and has had the nerve to call me and ask me for $$.....not to see how his kids are but for $$.....he would not now if they were even alive or dead.....it has been 7 yrs with no communication to them

Mr Guzman...if I do decide and can gather some $$ would I be able to arrange to deal with you directly for the payment.....I do not trust sending him money that might get spent elsewhere....he actually called me a few years back to ask me to send money for a divorece so he could marry one of his girlfriends...funny

So what do people do who don't have that kind of money if they want a divorce? Is there no other cheaper way because he is a local?

I sympathize but for accuracy (in case someone comes here) it is not about double in CDN$. $500 US is about CDN$700. $700 is under a thousand.

If you tried to get a divorce here you'd pay more than either those amounts and then some.
