Default work visa / residency

How much does a work visa cost?

How much does a residency cost including the sponsor? I've gotten several different price quotes. Anywhere from $2500.00-$3500.00. Best residency price I came up with was $1,000.00 and the balance was all for the lawyer/sponsor.

Whatever lawyer you deal with, make certain you can trust him to get our residency. It is not unknown for an attorney to take the money and never deliver the residency. Be wary when choosing an attorney. Do not make the decision based on price. Get recommendations from other expats who have experience dealing with the attorney they recommend.

If someone says they will get your residency for $1000, but takes the money and gives you nothing, then you will kick yourself for not having gone to the more expensive, but honest attorny in the first place.

Also, you want to be sure you are getting a genuine residency and not one that is bootleged. When you go to renew your provisional residency at the end of one year, you don't want to find out that you had been cheated.

The law firm I spoke with is Guzman Ariza & Asociados. I was under the impression that no matter who I use, residency is $1000.00 and the reason it will cost me more is because I need a sponsor which would be my lawyer. Is this correct?

I'm still curious about the work visa though. I know I need a job contract but once I have that, someone said the work visa only costs $100.00 and someone else said $1000.00. The $1000.00 makes no sense. For that I would do my residency.

Any info???

Fabio Guzman and his firm, the one you spoke with, would be at the top of my list of recommended firms. I got both my provisional and permanent residency with them.

I have looked into this extensively, and can suggest that if Fabio will process your residency for you for $1000, that you should take it before he changes his mind.
