Our attorney is on vacation right now, otherwise I would ask her. Sorry, I know it's lame to post "I don't know" in answer to a question.

The procedure is like this:
*check that the registration papers have the name of the seller
*Ask for a copy of the seller ID (cedula) youŽll need it to transfer the registration under your name.
*The seller have to sign the reg. paper in the backside
*In the registration check that the chasis number match the vehiculeŽs . You find the chasis number in the side of the driverŽs door or under the hood in the right side on top (its depends on the make of the vehicule).
*Then go with the car to šPlan Pilotošin SD (I donŽt know which police dept check that in another city) there they check it physically and look for any mismatch with the car and the papers, beside they search their database, if everything is clear they give you a statement which youŽll need later to get the car under your name.
*If everything is OK and tried the car out, the payment is done..Run as fast as you can and put the car registration papers under your name in Rentas Internas or pay a lawyer to do that for you..You must pay the 2% of the total cost of the vehicule, show them the sales papers, the registration, the copy of the ID of the seller, a copy of your ID, the statement the police (plan Piloto)gave to you and I guess youŽll be done with that ....Good Luck!!
