Unhappy Land

My great grandmother left 147 acres of land to my grandmother down in DR. My grandmother passed away with out a will so all her children were supposely left without inheriting the land. The land is maintain by my grandmothers brother who has not made any effort to give the children and the grandchildren out share of the land.

My uncle went down there and even hired a Lawyer but I guess my great uncle is a powerful man there.

If anyone has any suggestion on what I can do to get what is rightfully ours please let me know.

Default First of all does it worth it

I have a similar situation in my family right now.The first thing to know is if it worth all that you have to sacrifice to get it. Let me explain it..You´re gonna fight with all the family that is using the land right now, ´cause they say that you come from far away to take away what is theirs..
A bright side is that you don´t need a will to get your share, only thing you need is to find out if you great grandmother had papers of the land with her name on (if that happens , voila you can get your piece) you just hire a good lawyer (I´m using one myself right now for the same problem, if you want I get you the info about her), then talk to your relatives and ask them what it is gonna be, sale it or use it, Since you´re not a farmer(i guess) your call is to sell it , and that´s why I told you , you must find out if is a good land.. For example where is it? it is good for planting? or is a touristic area? it is good to have animals on it?.
Anyhow you must do something about it, because the people that have the land always thing that we (the urbans) don´t need it (If they only knew)..
Me, I´m not gonna sell for now I gonna do some business with the land ´till its clear up.And everybody knows how much they get.....
Ps 147 acres is a lot of land.......

Thank you for your replied I was told by my uncle that they grow cocoa beans and rice on the land. I believe that it's spelling is going to be way off but Jaiva La Bomba hopefully you understand that. I would love to get the name of your lawyer or any lawyer that can help me in this matter. My uncle tried but his lawyer was real shady....
