looking for information as to how to go about making me the legal guardian to my step daughter hopefully soon my wife and her will be coming to the us on a k3 visa.

A petition should be filed in Children’s Court (“Tribunal de Niños, Niñas y Adolescentes”) outlining the facts and including an affidavit from the real father. You will need a lawyer for this.

Fabio, how much time would this take? Would there be any way to do the paperwork in Canada as opposed to the DR? ie, Get the legal guardianship papers done in Canada, and have the mother sign them when we go? Would it be better to adopt my son, rather than applying for legal guardianship? I would like him to become a Canadian citizen.
