Default Legislation Regarding Collection of Marine Fish

Hi

My family and I are coming to the dominican republc on holiday, and wondered whether there is any legislation regarding the collection of some live fish/invertebrate etc for my aquarium at home.

To help advise on this matter, I think I had better give you an idea that I would be thinking of less than a dozen items.

I'm asking the question as I would not want to break any laws or local regulations.

Regards

I think you should check with the US authorities regarding what you can take back to the US.

Default I think Martin is from the UK

Martin I believe its very difficult to transport anything alive back to anywhere in EUROPE.

Check what you can bring back to your country of origin.

Julio

Default The short answer is

NOTHING

You are not allowed to take anything out of Dominican waters, except to eat it. Period.

Hi all

Thank you for your replies

While the issue of rules regarding importing could be overcome by applying for a license, so could the transportantion, by using appropritate packing techniques, if there are rules regarding collection, which it would appear there are, this is a 'show stopper'.

Thanks for your advice.

Regards

Martin
