Is residency needed for children?

I have 2 children living with me here in the Dominican Republic aged 12 and 14 years.

Do I need to get them residency if I have all the legal papers to live here - I am told by some lawyers that I do need to get my children residency and others tell me that they do not need residency until they are 16 years old.

Chester 4, It`s my experience that your kids should get the residency.

I`ve been in the Dominican Rep. since I was 2 years old, and I always had it. Now I`m 20, and I still have it.

Residency is required for every foreigner living in the Dominican Republic, including children. The only exceptions that come to mind are diplomats and their families.
