Default traveling while waiting for appointment

This is for a friend, I wanted to know if it was ok to travel to the united states with their tourist visa. They are currently in the immigration process, they are at the part right after they take their medical exam, and wait for the interview I believe. This person also has a tourist visa currently to the US. I wanted to know if you guys think that this would cause a problem when the person entered the country. This is not a long time thing, maybe just a week, and they would be back in time for the interview, do you think they would get harrassed by immigration here in the US? Or if its even allowed?

Thanks
