its all so confusing !!!

Im newly registered here. From Uk now in Las Terrenas. Here on my own with 2 kids. Thanks to you all for some great info & interesting threads ect. However some things no matter how much you look at old threads seem very confusing. Firstly I thought i was on a 90 day tourist visa as that is what were told were buying when we come in from UK!!!! So i carefully planned a trip back to Europe accordingly. Is this now not the case then???If not can someone please outline the scale of charges in pesos for me. Why do so many websites still say its a 90 day visa??? I do plan by the way once im sure we are staying to get residency so this for me is temporary situation
Secondly can some of you very experienced people tell me the exact process if buying a motorbike for registration ect. What about immatriculation if the bike was from a different area town ect. How much should it cost truly( the registration) not the bike!!???
I know im a totally green "gringo" (is that the right spelling?) right now but id like not to be for too long thats why im posting!!

Migration is authorized to charge:

15 days to 3 months: RD$150
3 months to 9 months: RD$250
9 months to 12 months: RD$300
1 year to 1-1/2 years: RD$400
1-1/2 year to 2 years: RD$500
2 years to 2-1/2 years: RD$600
2-1/2 years to 3 years: RD$700
3 years to 3-1/2 years: RD$800
3-1/2 years to 4 years: RD$900
4 years to 4-1/2 years: RD$1,000
4-1/2 years to 7 years: RD$1,500
More than 7 years: RD$2,000
